It Started With A Headache
It started with a headache. You know the headache I am talking about. It begins as a pinch at the base of your skull, wraps itself so cleverly around your head and then finishes with you wondering when you had placed your head in a vise.
The dreaded headband headache. It was my plight. I loved wearing a headband; headbands give my hair volume, they keep my hair in check. Headbands are jewelry for my hair. But the headache, the one size fits all headband, was my nemesis. Always leaving me in a compromising position; the headache begins its taunt and I am stuck. To remove the headband would leave me saddled with headband hair and I refuse to burden anyone near me with my outrageous headband hair. So, I endure the headache. There had to be a better way, I was determined to fight and win this headband headache war.
So, the battlefield was laid out before me, strewn with headbands in every style and color. Tattered and worn from years of being pulled and tugged trying to keep the headband headache from winning. I had a soft spot for every one of them. Some had been with me for years, long hair, short hair, each trying to help me figure out a way to win the war.
And then I saw them, a couple of pieces tossed in with all the rest. One scrap of fabric and one old, worn out scarf. Could they be on my side, could they possibly be my answer?
So, the three of us sit together, a scrap of fabric, a worn out scarf and myself. Together we will triumph over the headache war, as they are my brainchild. Trial and error, mistakes and success, lead us to the finish line. The result is superb, magnifique! These two pieces were my inspiration, my stimulus and my encouragement. In the end, transformed into one of a kind pieces, each an outward expression of my inner self. A stunning headband, an elegant headwrap, a classic scarf, an impish belt, or a simply stated accent piece.
Victory! I had conquered the headband headache and I had found joy in adorning myself with these beautiful pieces!
