It started as a tiny nudge at the back of my brain. You know that tiny nudge - it starts somewhere deep in the recesses of your mind and won’t stop poking and prodding. The nudge becomes a jab, the jab becomes a thump, and at that point you say to yourself, “Okay, I am listening!”
So I listened. Now it would be wonderful to captivate you with a romantic story as to where the inspiration for my designs came from. Long walks on a sunset beach, a serene drive down a coastal highway in a 1955 Goldenrod Yellow T-Bird convertible, strolling down a quaint cobblestone path in an enchanting city. But I can’t.
The truth is the muse behind my striking scarves began as a tiny nudge at my mind, instilling a simple longing of wanting something more. Something different. I wanted to create scarves that would be a dramatic accent statement, beautiful and artistic, adaptable to the aura you want to create for yourself each day, each scarf as unique as the woman wearing it.
Our days may not be filled with romantic stories, but whatever form your day takes, allow these pieces to be a stunning accessory to the beautiful person you already are.
The scarves I make probably all began their journey the same way: as a dress or skirt lovingly worn by someone like you. But with time this dress or skirt comes to find itself in the discard pile. This item, while still beautiful, is no longer worn, seeming to have lost its usefulness to those it was originally designed to please.
Pieces like this are the ones I seek out, items that have been discarded or set aside. I give them new purpose. I disassemble them, lay them out and start fresh. Pablo Picasso was quoted as saying, “Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.” There is nothing I enjoy more than being able to create something new simply by deconstructing and repurposing an item that was deemed to no longer hold value. This process provides me with the ultimate opportunity to share with you these beautiful, one-of-a-kind scarves to add to your beautiful, one-of-a-kind life.
Other scarves in my collection began their journey as scarves. They were lovingly worn and cherished by their owners, each in their own way a beauty to behold. And as with all of us, over time they changed. The scarves, while still wonderful, began showing signs of wear - maybe a hem that is loose, frayed edges, or a smudge that needs tending to. With that they found themselves set aside and eventually abandoned.
This is where I find them and my joy is complete because at this point I am in revival mode. I hem, I mend, I fix, I love and ultimately the result is a revival of the old, restoring each to their original beauty. Now these marvelous scarves, these beautiful, artistic pieces, will be the chic adornment to an exquisite you.
